A calm animal-names game for little ones — every name spoken aloud, in 8 languages.

Can't read yet? Doesn't need to.

Made for toddlers who can’t read yet

Every card shows a clear animal illustration, and every animal’s name is read aloud, so there’s no reading needed.

I’m a dad who studied math education, and the learning apps I found for my daughter were too bright and too erratic for her. LFC is slower and calmer, and it’s built for playing together.

Two ways to play

Learn mode

Two animal cards flip face up and their names are spoken, one after another. Your child taps their favourite — there are no wrong choices. The chosen animal stays to meet a new challenger, and the round ends with a cheerful fireworks celebration.

Test mode

One animal card appears, its name is spoken, and your child picks the matching word from a few spoken choices. A wrong guess simply invites a friendly “try again”, and the round ends with a score recap of first-try matches.

Flamingo: nailed it. Shoes on: still pending.

Six animal worlds

  • Pets
  • Farm Animals
  • Wild Animals
  • Birds
  • Bugs and Little Creatures
  • Sea Animals

Eight languages

English, German, French, Spanish, Hindi, Chinese, Italian and Croatian — so children can hear animal names in the language that feels like home, or start picking up a new one.

Built for little hands

  • Large, colourful, easy-to-tap cards
  • Warm background music you can mute anytime
  • Encouraging feedback instead of harsh “wrong answer” sounds
  • Simple, distraction-free screens: just cards, names and animals

Why “Lara’s”?

Lara’s Animal Flashcards is named after my daughter Lara. I build Baby Newt apps for her and with her — she’s the first tester of every version. (Her privacy matters to us, so you won’t find her photo here.)

Questions parents ask

What age is Lara’s Animal Flashcards for?

It’s designed for toddlers and preschoolers — roughly ages 1 to 5 — and older children who are learning a new language enjoy it too.

Does my child need to read?

No. Every animal name and every answer is spoken aloud.

Which devices does it work on?

iPhone and iPad today. The Android version is on its way.

Is there a subscription?

No. Our apps for children don’t have subscriptions. If an app has a premium version, it’s a one-time purchase.

Can I turn the music off?

Yes, the background music can be muted at any time.
