Young babies are drawn to bold, black-and-white shapes. Our caterpillar is drawn exactly that way and climbs slowly up the screen, so little eyes have time to find it and follow it — a simple visual target for a few minutes of tummy time, with you right beside your baby.

A game for big siblings, too
Little fingers can place leaves on the screen with a pinch, and the caterpillar crawls over to eat them — with little hearts every time it finishes one. Kids can also pull it around the screen. It’s a playful way for toddlers and preschoolers (up to about five) to practise pinching and hand-eye coordination, and it gives the big sibling a job while the baby does tummy time.

Tummy Time is free to download, with no ads: the caterpillar, the timer and the leaf game are free for everyone. Premium is a one-time purchase, never a subscription, and it adds more ways to keep tummy time interesting:

Questions parents ask
Is it a medical app?
No. It’s a simple visual target for a few minutes of parent-supervised tummy time. If you have concerns about your baby’s development, talk to your pediatrician.
Is there a subscription?
No. Tummy Time is free to download, and Premium is a one-time purchase. There are no subscriptions.
How long should tummy time be?
Follow your pediatrician’s or health visitor’s advice for your baby’s age. Short, frequent sessions are usually easier than long ones.
Can I leave the app running while I do something else?
Please don’t. Tummy time is always supervised: stay with your baby the whole time.
